The primary things to be aware of with phone scams is that they generally are unsolicited in nature (you did not request/make the call), and they will often ask for account, financial, or identifying information. Examples include (but are not limited to) the following: full name, address, social security number, credit/debit card numbers, checking account numbers, and other account numbers with legitimate services in your name (phone/Internet/TV, etc.). If you receive a call such as this, do not give out personal information. Instead, you can disconnect the unsolicited call and reach out to the business the caller claimed to be representing via a publicly displayed number (such as on their website).
